I've always been terrified of cutting my fingers, which makes me a very clumsy cook in the kitchen, so I thought a knife skills class might come in handy. :)
On February 10th, 2026, this dream came true with my friends Amanda and Janice at the Cook's Warehouse.
The 4 hour class covered everything you could possibly want to know about knives (they either come from Japan or Germany!), cutting boards (Epicurian boards are the way to go), knife safety, and cutting technique. Our instructor shared lots of stories and advice, then let us work on technique in the kitchen. We learned how to dice (carre - large, parmentier- medium, and brunoise - fine), baton, julienne, mince, chiffonade, and supreme. Most of this was with a potato. But we also learned how to cut an onion two different ways and easily cut a bell pepper. I learned a lot, but especially had fun with these friends who made it joyful.
